The BIG ART Wortspende project strives to inject contemporary art into BIG’s construction sites and growing infrastructure. The construction site fences enhanced by BIG ART Wortspende invigorate the public spaces, make passersby curious, stimulate the imagination – and they do all that in the short time it takes for people to walk or drive by.
In order to realise the project, artists who had previously been involved in BIG ARTS’s Kunst & Bau projects were asked for a “word donation”. The only specification: it must be a textual work consisting of black writing on a white background. In this way the canvases visually set themselves apart and provide respite from the often motley commercial posters and banners in the urban space.
