Anita Witek’s goal for the plaza in front of the school and the adjacent student residence was to create an atmosphere that would appeal to children, young people and adults alike. She especially wanted to design spaces and nooks for a potential community or for many different communities by creating collages of shapes and materials. The result was Circling the Square, a design best viewed as a whole from above (from the buildings). Owing to the spatial arrangement of the design elements, this work creates connections between the people who meet here every day.
