“SQUARING THE CIRCLE” IS REGARDED AS A CLASSIC PROBLEM IN GEOMETRY. TURNING THIS PHRASE AROUND FORGES A BRIDGE TO MY DESIGN."
Anita Witek’s goal was to create an atmosphere that would appeal to and attract children, young people and adults alike. She especially wanted to design spaces and nooks for a potential community or for many different communities by creating a collage with various shapes and materials. This resulted in a design that can best be viewed as a whole, and in particular from above (from the buildings), and which, owing to the spatial arrangement of design elements, creates connections between the people who meet here every day.
Shady trees stand in the centre of round, grassy islands around which collage-like zones of coloured tartan and concrete seating areas are arranged. This results in a variety of zones for sitting and lying, resting, playing and having fun.
