Ceiling mural – Universität Klagenfurt

IN 1976 THE AUSTRIAN ARTIST GISELBERT HOKE CREATED A CEILING MURAL IN THE ENTRANCE AREA OF THE UNIVERSITY OF KLAGENFURT.

This large-format work is made of 196 enamelled copper tiles applied to the ceiling in the university’s entrance hall. In the course of renovations carried out in the university building, the work had to be removed in June 2016 and put into temporary storage. Before being reapplied in October 2017, it was thoroughly cleaned and retouched by restorer Karma Eder. Thanks to the meticulous restoration process, this artistic work, which had already acquired quite a patina during the more than 40 years since its creation, is now as good as new.
